Google AI Pro Gets a Surprise Storage Bump — 5TB Now Standard, No Price Increase
Google One head Shimrit Ben-Yair announced on X that Google AI Pro subscribers are receiving a significant storage upgrade — from 2TB to 5TB at no additional cost. The bump applies to existing subscribers automatically as part of a broader set of improvements to the $20-per-month plan. Alongside the storage increase, Gemini inside Workspace apps including Docs, Sheets, and Slides is getting broader context awareness, allowing it to pull relevant information from files, emails, and the web to deliver more connected, useful answers rather than treating each request in isolation.
The timing is deliberate. Microsoft has been steadily pushing its $30-per-user Microsoft 365 Copilot plan as the gold standard for AI-enhanced productivity, and Google is quietly making the case that AI Pro delivers comparable — or better — value at a lower price point. Doubling storage while deepening Workspace AI integration closes the gap on two fronts at once. For individuals and small teams who live inside Google's ecosystem, this update makes the AI Pro plan considerably harder to pass up.
